If my nearly 15 years of corporate writing experience have taught me anything, it's how to understand my clients. I try to put myself in their world, listen with everything I've got, and ask well-thought-out questions. I'm on a mission to learn just what it is they want their words to do.
Over my career, I've worked with many kinds of professionals—engineers, executives, architects, scientists, managers, craftsmen, designers, realtors. Not surprisingly, people vary widely in how they communicate their writing needs. Understanding that fact firsthand has been valuable experience. It’s largely how I've developed my crucial listening skills and my ability to understand what clients want—even when they sometimes have a hard time articulating it themselves. My professional background rests upon a deep knowledge of the English language and its fascinating intricacies, knowledge gained from experiences like attending graduate school in applied English linguistics; working as an editorial assistant to lexicographers at the Dictionary of American Regional English; and teaching English as a second language to business professionals internationally. What do you want your words to do? From my diverse background working with words, I can get up to speed quickly on your particular writing needs. I then go to work to create clear and compelling content that moves people to take the next step—toward you. |
